The finance division gets its first female secretary

For the first time, the Government of Bangladesh has appointed a woman in the Finance Division as Secretary.

Fatima Yasmin, who previously served as secretary in the Economic Relations Division, was promoted to principal secretary on Thursday.

This promotion will be effective from July 17, according to a notification in the official journal of the Ministry of Public Administration.

Fatima Yasmin, a career civil servant, joined the ERD of the Ministry of Finance as secretary on February 23, 2020.

She joined the civil service of Bangladesh in 1991. She has worked for various ministries, including the Finance Division and the Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Ministries of Agriculture, Women and Children and defense.

She has also worked for ERD for a long time with the World Bank, United Nations, Asian Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank.
