Luke Johnson acquires stake in corporate finance firm Maréchale Capital

Johnson, who is the chairman of private equity firm Risk Capital Partners and the backer of restaurant and leisure groups including Gail’s Bakery, All Star Lanes and Lussmanns Sustainable Fish & Grill, subscribes for 8,000,000 new shares at 2p each, raising £160,000 for the company.

Maréchale’s services are primarily aimed at hospitality and renewable energy businesses in the UK and Europe. Its clients include Corbin & King, Hawksmoor and Brewhouse & Kitchen.

As part of the subscription terms, Johnson will have the right to join the company’s board of directors, subject to due regulatory process, and has entered into a 12-month orderly market agreement regarding the disposal of any shares.

Commenting on the investment, Maréchale Capital CEO Patrick Booth-Clibborn said: “Luke Johnson is a successful entrepreneur and investor. Luke is a former chairman of Channel 4 Television and PizzaExpress and his current tenures include Gail’s Artisan Bakery, which was recently valued at over £200m.
