Bus driver among three detained for attempting to rob financial company


A gang of three, including a private bus driver, were arrested by Rajagopalnagar police on Thursday for allegedly attempting to rob the Manappuram financial company on May 26.

The accused, identified as Kumar, Nagaraj and Bahaddur Singh, smashed the shutter to enter the business and attempted to open the safe using a gas cutter after disconnecting the CCTV, when the branch manager received an alert and informed the police. . By the time the police arrived at the scene, the accused had abandoned his plan and escaped.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and analyzed CCTV footage of the area and surrounding area to find the accused.

Investigations revealed that the main defendant is a private bus driver who had taken out huge loans and unable to repay, he hatched a plan to rob the finance company. He enlisted his friends Nagraj and Bahaddur Singh, a rickshaw driver and a helper working in a chicken coop, respectively.

The accused recognized the area and struck the business in the early hours of May 26. However, they had to abandon the plan halfway through when they heard the police arrive at the scene.

The police recovered an LPG gas cylinder, a gas cutter, a rickshaw, a bicycle and an iron bar, two nightgowns they were wearing during the crime and two pairs of gloves used during the crime. They confessed to trying to steal money from an ATM in Rajagopalnagar but were unsuccessful. The trio have no criminal history, police added.
